The Hack Details
- 1Open your preferred calendar — Google Calendar, Outlook, etc.
- 2Navigate to Settings → Event Settings → Default duration and set your typical meeting length.
- 3Enable "Add buffer before/after events" — many calendars offer this natively, or via a third-party add-on.
- 4Set your buffer lengths (e.g., 10 min before, 5 min after). The padding will appear automatically on every new event.
- 5Optional: Use Zapier or Make.com to add a "Travel Buffer" that triggers based on event location.
- 6Test by creating a couple of events and watch the extra breathing room appear in your day view.
- 7Tweak until it feels right — the goal is protected focus, not an over-inflated schedule.
